Join us for Acharya Kelzang Wangdi’s fourth year of teachings on the Eighth Karmapa’s commentary for Vasubandhu’s Treasury of Higher Knowledge (Abhidharmakośa) in Boulder, Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 through Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019.
This course is an in-depth study of Abhidharmakośa – the seminal work of Buddhist Abhidharma tradition – based on the commentary by the Eight Karmapa, Mikyö Dorje (1507-1554). Abhidharmakośa consists of eight chapters. The first six chapters, taught in three previous retreats, cover topics of phenomenology (skandhas, āyatanas, dhātus); the truth of suffering; the outer vessel (the world) and its inner contents (sentient beings); and karma, from which the world and its beings arise; mental afflictions, as well as the path of relinquishing afflictions.
This time, Acharya Kelzang will be teaching the last two chapters, seven and eight, covering topics of wisdoms gained on the path, and absorptions from which the wisdoms arise. Acharya Kelzang will teach in Tibetan, with oral translation by Jules Levinson. The teachings will be presented in the format of an intensive two-week retreat.
For more information, please see the Abhidharmakosha program page.

A nine day intensive Nitartha program was held Friday 30 Sept – Saturday 8 Oct, 2016 in downtown Warsaw’s beautiful, brand new, Dharma center. Acharya Lama Tenpa Gyaltsen has said that the center, known as Karma Dechen Choling, “delights all the Buddhas of the three times.”
More than twenty students from Poland and Greece participated in the program. For seven students, this was their final course of the Intermediate Curriculum and they obtained the certificate of completion signed by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche at the celebratory ceremony which marked the end of the program.

This fall in Boulder, Colorado we have many students both local and online studying the foundational curriculum in the BUD 501 Mind & Its World I and BUD 502 Clear Thinking courses. Our own long-time faculty member Jirka Hladiš is presenting Mind & Its World I; he has been a part of Nitartha Intitute since 2002 and a faculty member since 2007. In addition we have two new teachers-in-training presenting the Clear Thinking course: Susan Aposhyan and Francis Sullivan. Susan Aposhyan lives here in Boulder and is a psychotherapist, writer, and teacher. She formally was a student of Trungpa Rinpoche, and now practices under Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. Francis has been a student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche since 2004 and before that was a student of Trungpa Rinpoche and Osel Tendzin. When he is not practicing and studying he is doing biochemistry research and riding his bike.

Located in right in the entrance to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Boulder Canyon, Nalandabodhi Boulder has been a home to the Nalandabodhi Mandala since 1996. We recently renovated the shrine room and this has set a vivid and luminous atmosphere for giving these teaching. With a very high online enrollment this year we are joined by thirty-two students all around the world from New Zealand to Denmark. Together with this vibrant community we are cultivating the investigative mind and bringing the buddhadharma into practice and our daily lives.
Science of Creative Arts (SoCA)
於二零一六年十月份，導師卡爾•賓賀素 (Mitra Karl Brunnhölzl)為墨西哥莫里利亞的同學教授了一個以<心經>為題的週末課程，並舉行了一個關於<彌勒五論>的講座。*
To complement the Heart Sutra teachings, Stephanie Johnston, taught three classes based on the Science of Creative Arts curriculum entitled “Symbolizing the Awakened Heart: Buddhist Visual Literacy and the Heart Sutra.” The classes introduced the three main principles of Buddhist Visual Literacy (BVL)—visual literacy, valid cognition, and iconography—and applied them to the dilemma of symbolizing prajaparamita and its qualities in action. The classes started with guided meditations that provided a common experiential ground and were followed by illustrated lecture with Q&A. People were given meditation experiments to try out between classes, which then provided the ground for the next day’s exploration and some lively discussion.
The lectures were translated by Israel Lifshitz, who hosted the event and Karl and Stephanie at Lhundrup Lamrim Ling (the place of the spontaneous progressive path)
導師伊斯雷爾•利夫希茲(Israel Lifshitz) 為墨西哥課程的主辦人及翻譯。課程均於Lhundrup Lamrim Ling 中心舉行。
