Paths & Bhumis: The Path to Enlightenment

This is semester 2 of this course, an exposition of the Buddhist path based on The Presentation of Bhumis, Paths & Results in the Treasury of Knowledge root text. Students continue to learn what is necessary for entering and progressing on the path and what the goal of spiritual journey is, through exploring the five paths, and the ten bodhisattva bhūmis, as well as the result: nirvana, kāyas, wisdoms and enlightened activity.

PREREQUISITE:

  • Fall 2024 Paths & Bhumis (Semester 1) or repeat students who have previously completed the Paths & Bhumis course

The Spring Semester is included in the Fall Semester tuition. If you are repeating the course and did not register in the fall, register here.

Israel Lifshitz

(Teaching during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters)

FACULTY

Israel Lifshitz holds degrees in Physics and Mathematics from the National University of Mexico. He has been involved with Tibetan Buddhism since 1992 and has studied under Kagyu, Gelug and Nyingma teachers. His teaching activities include courses and retreats in more than 35 cities throughout North, Central and South America and has served as translator into Spanish to more than 25 Tibetan and Western teachers. After meeting DPR, he joined Nitartha Institute in 2005, started teaching there in 2008, was authorized as a full faculty member in 2010, and translated all the root texts of the foundational and intermediate curriculum into Spanish.
